Who needs Vitamin B?
You see all these Vitamin B bottles in the pharmacies. This is confusing. Do you need Vitamin B?
Do you drink alcohol regularly? Then you need Vitamin B1, also called thiamine. The usual dose is 1.2 to 1.5 mg a day, but if you have symptoms of confusion, tingling of nerves, muscle weakness, shortness of breath, then 50 to 100 mg daily
Are you vegetarian or vegan? Or on a restrictive diet like a milk free or gluten free diet? Then check and see if you have a sore red tongue , cracks at the corners of your lips, hair loss, eye pain, or light sensitivity. You may be low in B2 or Riboflavin. The normal dose is the same as B1.
If you have any disease that causes poor absorption of food OR long term diarrhea, you may need vitamin supplements including B vitamins.
Are there any more B vitamins? Yes, there are! I will cover them next time. Stay tuned!
