Blog 18: Is your B6 making you ‘be sick’ ?
Pyridoxine or Vitamin B6 is often given to patients with liver or kidney disease. The daily requirement of this vitamin is only 1.5 mg. It is naturally found in whole grains, nuts, legumes, leafy greens and lean meats.
Some take up to 100 mg daily
Here are the signs to watch out for:
Tingling of the hands, muscle weakness, headaches, nausea and vomiting and diarrhea, skin rashes, hair loss.
At even higher doses, over 200 mg daily, there could be memory loss and confusion
Remember, vitamins like B6 and B3 (Niacin) may sometimes be taken in to improve overall heath. But the truth of the matter is that, in high doses, these vitamins may hurt you. So be careful!
