Blog 20: You’re Made Of Steel (or Iron)
You have to have iron. It’s a metal, and iron is necessary for hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen in your blood. Without iron, you will become very short of breath because you are not able to transport oxygen from your lungs to your organs.
You can get iron from animal sources like beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, shellfish, and plant sources like lentils, leafy greens like spinach (remember Popeye?) If you’re feeling tired or short of breath, could you be low in iron?
Absolutely.
How can you find out? I’ll tell you next time
